The Bend Municipal Court offers several programs to increase traffic safety awareness and vehicle compliance.

Certain violations/infractions are eligible for the Court’s “Fix-it” program under General Order 203 Violations Bureau.  Proof of correction or repair may result in a dismissal after payment of the $65.00 administrative fee.  If your citation is for “Parking in Disabled Zone (Failure to display valid ADA placard)” and you provide proof that you had a valid placard at the time of the citation, the Court may dismiss the violation after payment of the $15.00 administrative fee.  If you are interested in the Fix-it Program, please contact the court clerk for details and eligibility.

Traffic Safety Videos may be assigned or ordered as a condition of dismissal under certain circumstances, as a condition of receiving additional time to comply and/or as a condition of conviction under certain circumstances. If you were assigned or ordered to watch Traffic Safety Videos, please read your paperwork carefully.  The videos may be found on our Traffic Safety Videos Page .

 The following Traffic Safety Programs are currently offered by the Bend Municipal Court:

  1. Traffic Safety School
  2. Young Driver Program
  3. Driver’s Probation

Participation in any of the Court’s Traffic Safety Programs requires prior authorization from the Judge or Court Clerk.  To enter into one of the Bend Municipal Court’s Traffic Safety Programs, you must appear in person or in writing before a Default Judgment for failure to appear has been entered against you.  The Court Clerks are authorized to approve Traffic Safety School for certain violations.  Participation in all other Traffic Safety Programs must be authorized by the Judge.

Upon entering one of the Traffic Safety Programs, you will receive detailed paperwork regarding your specific program along with the list of approved Traffic Safety School providers.  Please read this paperwork carefully to understand your responsibilities and the consequences of not completing your program.

All of the Traffic Safety Programs SHARE the following participation requirements:

  • Pay the fee imposed or complete a Payment Plan Agreement within 10 days from program authorization;
  • Pay for and attend an in-person Traffic Safety School from the approved providers list;
  • Return a Certificate of Completion from the Traffic Safety School provider within 6 months.  The Court will not extend the time to complete Traffic Safety School for any reason.
  • Additional requirements for your particular program as stated on your judgment or authorization form.

If you complete all of the requirements, then the violation will be dismissed and will not appear on your driving record.  Please be aware that you may not participate in multiple Traffic Safety Programs related to the same citation unless specifically authorized by the Judge.

The court has the authority to order that you go to Traffic Safety School as a condition of conviction including but not limited to the following circumstances:

  • You were cited for driving a motor vehicle while using a mobile electronic device under ORS 811.507;
  • You have multiple convictions on your record;
  • Your violation is very serious.

If you are ordered to attend Traffic Safety School, your violation will NOT be dismissed upon completion of Traffic Safety School.  Failure to complete Traffic Safety School as ordered will result in an order to suspend your driving privileges under Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS) 809.270.

All of the Traffic Safety Programs SHARE the following eligibility requirements:

  • You must enter a plea of “No Contest” to the violation on your citation. By entering a plea of “No Contest”, you waive your right to a trial on that violation.
  • You must not owe any fines or fees to the Bend Municipal Court, or if you do you must get on a payment plan.
  • You must not have held a commercial driver’s license at the time the offense was committed, even if you were not driving a commercial vehicle at the time of the citation.

In addition to the requirements above, the Traffic Safety Programs have the following INDIVIDUAL requirements:

  • You cannot have been convicted of any other driving or traffic-related violations in the past three years.
  • You cannot have participated in any other traffic school programs or driving-related diversion programs in the past three years.

  • You cannot have been convicted of any other driving or traffic-related violations in the past three years.
