The City of Bend Fire Department Volunteers are a diverse group who share their valuable skills supporting the Department in many ways. The main areas are:
Safety Outreach for Seniors (SOS) Program: Administer a free safety program designed to help uncover harmful conditions in and around the home that could place a person, guest or pets at risk of injury or even death. They try to identify Fire Hazards and Fall Hazards and suggest ways to prevent these hazards from occurring.
Special Events: Help with numerous special events like going to schools with Sparky the Fire Dog and Smokey Bear or taking the Community Engine to 4th of July in the Park, Cascade Children’s Festival, or WinterFest. Educate at the Code Ready Smoke Alarm program, Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Programs, Fire Prevention Week, Car Seat Safety Clinics and be a part of public information campaigns.
Courier Service: 5 days per week make sure the mail is deliver to and from each station and the warehouse (and anywhere else that is needed).
Administration: Sort, scan, file copy, etc. Whatever assistance is needed to help take the load off The Administration staff.
Camp Fire Axe: Introducing 15-18 year olds to firefighter/paramedic service, help with a variety of activities at this 4 day camp at the Bend Fire Training Center in late June. https://www.facebook.com/campfireaxe/
Training/Other: Engage in numerous types of training from CPR to Fire safety, home hazards, etc. Training is usually conducted at each monthly meeting. Our Volunteers are available to help out wherever there's a need within the Bend Fire Department and the Bend Community.
