Climate Action Steering Committee

The Climate Action Steering Committee (CASC) helps to engage the Bend community to develop the Community Climate Action Plan(CCAP) and recommend the CCAP to City Council.

The recommendations provided by the CASC will guide the City and the community in pursuit of the goals to reduce fossil fuel use by 40% by 2030 and by 70% by 2050 as established in Resolution 3044.

The CASC has 13 members who reflect the diverse views of Bend's community:

  • One business representative from the Bend Economic Development Advisory Board (BEDAB)
  • Two business representatives from at-large businesses
  • Two environmental community representatives
  • Two local government or institutional representatives
  • Two at-large individuals
  • Two subject matter experts
  • Two youth members (under 18 at initial appointment)

Last fall, the CASC convened topic specific working groups to support the development of the Bend Community Climate Action Plan.  The working groups played a vital role in brainstorming and developing potential actions the community can take to reduce our fossil fuel use. The actions from the working groups will be considered by the CASC for the CCAP. Working groups were made up of stakeholders relevant to the particular sectors, subject matter experts, and interested members of the public. There were four different working group topics. You can see the action ideas created during the working groups at the links below:
