Crawl Space Storage Space Fire Protection

Post Date:09/18/2018 7:46 AM

Since the adoption of the 2011 Oregon Residential Special Code, crawl spaces are required to have ½” gypsum on the underside of joists if the space is used for storage. Bend Building Safety has determined that a full sized man-door into the space qualifies as being usable for storage. There are some exceptions for size and type of joists. Please see R302.13 at the following link for more information https://codes.iccsafe.org/public/chapter/content/10133/
