Get to know SCORE Mentors Rick LeSage and Marvin May
The Central Oregon Chapter of SCORE provides no-cost mentoring with experienced former business owners and executives. No matter whether you’re just starting out or are a seasoned entrepreneur there’s a SCORE mentor for you.
Here’s the latest spotlight on SCORE’s mentors from Tim Conlon. You can always find more information at centraloregon.score.org.
Rick LeSage is a certified mentor with SCORE-Central Oregon and its premier expert to advise restaurant owners or those who wish to operate a restaurant. SCORE-CO is a non-profit that provides free and confidential advice to the region’s small businesses and entrepreneurs.
When it comes to improving a restaurant’s success, uncovering costs that limit profitability or propagating a brand to new locales, Rick has the depth and breadth experience to be a “turn-key” advisor.
“Whether one has a restaurant franchise ‘fast-casual’ place to eat or an ethnic food cart on Bend’s eastside, making a profit while enjoying the experience is a daily challenge,” advises Rick.
Rick has been a vice president of operations and COO for a restaurant brand enterprise; and he has taken brands from construction through start-up, steady state profitability and recruitment of management to expand the brand.
Marvin May, with 9 years as a SCORE-CO mentor, is viewed by the other chapter mentors as the “Mentor of mentors.” Marvin, a retired CPA, has been a C level executive in the Forest Products industry, President and CEO of a toy, plastic and wood component manufacturer and lift truck dealership.
Marv’s long and productive management career includes leading three companies out of net losses annually to profitability.
Marv is the antithesis of the retired corporate executive resting on his laurels. His engagement with SCORE clients currently inspires his colleagues to donate time to strengthen Central Oregon’s small business community.
Mentor LeSage says, “Marv for SCORE-CO offers contemporary business advice for us, and with his lifelong commitment to the region’s vibrancy, has us understand a successful SCORE client is a plus for all Central Oregonians.
