Beginning early this week, contract crews began grinding out old pavement in the areas of Newport and Greenwood Avenues, and NW Harriman St., similar work will also occur next week on a southern portion of Third Street (Business 97). You can access a map of all planned summer paving work, including the affected areas, by clicking here, or on the image below.

There are a few stages to this type of project: first, the old pavement is ground out, temporary striping goes down in the interim, then new asphalt is laid, and finally fresh permanent striping is installed. Here’s the planned timing

Old pavement will be ground out and removed on:

  • Harriman Street: Monday, August 13th

  • Newport Avenue and Greenwood Avenue between Awbrey Road and Third Street for pavement milling, road closures with detours, 8/14/18 – 8/15/18, night work from 6 p.m. – 6 a.m.

  • Third Street between Wilson Avenue and Badger Road for pavement milling, road closure with detour, 8/16/18, night work from 6 p.m. – 6 a.m.; work will continue on this area overnight from Sunday 8/19 through Thursday 8/23.

Fresh pavement will be laid on:

  • Harriman Street: Overnight between 6 pm and 6 am on Monday, August 20th.

  • Newport and Greenwood Avenues: Overnight between 6 pm and 6 am, Tuesday August 21st through Thursday, August 23rd.

  • South Third Street: Overnight the week of August 27th

Permanent Striping for affected streets will occur starting on the week of August 27th.

Should the timing change, you can catch updated information each Friday in the City of Bend’s weekly road and traffic report, available at
