Bend Metropolitan Planning Organization
Making regional connections.
We convene government and non-profit partners to develop a safe and efficient transportation system for all users.
The Bend Metropolitan Planning Organization (BMPO) is the federally designated, regional transportation planning organization for the Bend area. It was designated in 2002 when the Bend area reached 50,000 in population. It is the lead agency for regional transportation planning in the Bend area. It is also the decision-making body for the area’s federal and state transportation funding.
MPOs are charged with conducting a continuing, cooperative, and comprehensive transportation planning process. The BMPO works with local governments to prioritize transportation needs for the BMPO area.
To view the main products that the BMPO produces to facilitate transportation planning in the BMPO area, visit the BMPO Plans and Programs webpage.
To receive BMPO and other transportation updates, visit the Updates and Subscriptions section of the City of Bend Connect webpage and select Transportation Planning from the options listed. BMPO projects and programs are also discussed at public meetings of the BMPO Policy Board, the BMPO Technical Advisory Committee, and the BMPO Budget Committee.
BMPO Committees
The BMPO has three active committees. Meetings of these committees are held in a hybrid format (in person and online) and are open to the public. For more information, visit each committee webpage.
