Suggestions And Comments
All public entities must grow and evolve with the community. Bend is seeing major growth. With that, crime and traffic problems are very likely to increase. With limited resources, the Bend Police Department is interested in your comments on how to best deploy those resources. The national average of police to 1000 people is 1.85. Bend is currently at .94 per 1000 people. How best can the Department use those resources?

Plans are proceeding for a Street Crimes Unit to address the increasing number of crimes such as thefts and burglaries. There is already a Traffic Unit whose focus is to oversee traffic problems. Are there other units you would like to see formed? Where should the Department focus its efforts? In general, what suggestions do you have for the Department? Keep in mind budget and personnel constraints. If resources are diverted in a new direction, what areas will be compromised from that diversion?

You may call the Community Liaison, (541) 322-2976, or with any suggestions you may have.

Thank you for your support and interest.
