Bend Municipal Court Traffic School Programs
(Requires Prior Authorization from the Judge or Court Clerk)

 The City of Bend Municipal Court currently offers three separate Traffic School Programs:
1. Traffic Safety School;
2. Alternate Safety Belt School Program (also known as the Seat Belt Class); and
3. Bicycle Safety Program.

The Traffic School Programs have certain eligibility requirements. Each of the programs share the following eligibility requirements in common:
  • You must appear in (or submit your written request for Traffic Safety School to) the Bend Municipal Court on or before the first appearance date listed on your citation.
  • You must enter a plea of “No Contest” to the violation on your citation. By entering a plea of “No Contest”, you waive your right to a trial on that violation.
  • You must not owe any fines or fees for any other citations in the Bend Municipal Court.
In addition, the individual Traffic School Programs each have the following additional requirements:

TRAFFIC SAFETY SCHOOL:

  • You cannot have been convicted of any other driving or traffic-related violations in the past three years.
  • You cannot have participated in any other traffic school programs or driving-related diversion programs in the past three years; and
  • You cannot currently hold a commercial driver’s license, or have had a commercial driver’s license in the past year, even if you were not using your commercial driver's license at the time of the citation.

ALTERNATE SAFETY BELT SCHOOL PROGRAM (AKA the Seat Belt Class):

  • You cannot have been convicted of any safety belt-related violations in the past three years;
  • You cannot have participated in any other safety belt-related traffic school programs or diversion programs in the past three years; and
  • You cannot currently hold a commercial driver’s license, or have had a commercial driver’s license in the past year, even if you were not using your commercial driver's license at the time of the citation.

BICYCLE SAFETY PROGRAM:

  • You cannot have been convicted of any bicycle-related traffic violations in the past three years;
  • You cannot have participated in any other bicycle-related traffic school programs or diversion programs in the past three years.

To enter into one of the Bend Municipal Court’s Traffic School Programs, you must appear in person on or before the appearance date listed on your citation and request the Traffic School Program from the Judge or the Court Clerk. If you reside out of the area, your request for Traffic Safety School may be in writing and must be received on or before the appearance date listed on your citation. You will be required to sign a written Traffic School Agreement. If you complete all of the requirements of that Agreement within 120 days, then the violation will be dismissed and will not appear on your driving record.

Please be aware that you may not participate in multiple Traffic School Programs related to the same citation.
