Planning Commission

The Planning Commission provides a public forum for reviewing land use policies, development regulations, and certain development proposals. Depending on the matter being considered, the commission may make recommendations to City Council or issue a final decision as authorized by City code.

Commissioners review planning issues using adopted plans, development regulations, technical information, staff analysis, and public testimony. Through this process, the commission helps ensure planning and development decisions align with Bend’s long-term vision and adopted community goals.

Planning decisions influence where housing, businesses, transportation facilities, public services, and other development can occur. They can also affect natural resources, neighborhood character, and the infrastructure needed to support a growing community.

The Planning Commission helps bring adopted policies, technical information, and public testimony into these decisions. This public process helps support thoughtful planning for both current community needs and Bend’s long-term growth.
