North Area Sewer Project construction will begin soon. Bend’s sewer collection system is near capacity. In some areas, existing sewer pipes routinely approach overflow levels. This project will provide needed relief in the north area and improve access to employment land. In parts of the city it is difficult to add any major new employer or residential development due to sewer system capacity. This project includes: • Force main construction from a lift station in Sawyer Park on O.B. Riley Road, south to Third Street and east on Butler Market Road connecting to an existing gravity main line near 4th Street. • Gravity system upgrades between Nels Anderson Road and North Highway 97. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2017. Visit the project website for project updates at www.bendoregon.gov/northsewer.

27th Street Sewer Line Project Update
New Traffic Changes
Work continues throughout the 27th Street corridor including isolated areas of paving. Approximately 5,000 feet of the sewer pipe has been installed in this construction phase.
There will be several traffic shifts as the work continues.
Daytime construction for sewer installation on Neff Road between Medical Center Drive and 27th Street is scheduled to begin Monday, March 6. The westbound lane on Neff Road between Medical Center Drive and 27th Street will be closed to all traffic. Detours will be signed to direct westbound travelers to Butler Market Road or Hwy 20 depending on the approach direction to Neff Road. All accesses to St Charles remain open. Specifically, access from the east is made at Medical Center Drive or Conners Avenue. Follow the blue hospital signs.
Please travel slowly in these areas for your safety and for the safety of the workers.
The 27th Street Sewer Line is part of the Southeast Interceptor, an infrastructure addition to the City’s sewer collection system that will provide relief to capacity issues around Bend.
SEI provides much needed enhancements to the city’s sewer collection system. Benefits include:
- Increased collection system capacity
- The availability of gravity sewer service to hundreds of homes that are currently on septic systems
- The opportunity to decommission several sewer pump stations
The City of Bend protects drinking water sources, public health, and the environment by conveying and treating wastewater from throughout the City.
